Weekly Prayer Vigil

9/9/2024

For over 40 years now, Holy Name Church has been home to the 8am Saturday Pro-life Mass. This Mass draws people from all over the tri-state area including southern Ohio, northern Kentucky and south-east Indiana! These are dedicated pro-lifers who come out in the heat, cold, snow, rain, wind etc. to pray for the unborn, especially those whose lives are taken at the Planned Parenthood just down the street from Holy Name.

The Program begins with Mass at 8am, followed by a period of Adoration. If the priest is able to stay, he often chooses to lead the rosary or offer confession during the rosary. As the rosary begins, some people will remain in the church, while most will process down to the abortuary. There have even been a few times that we have been blessed to be able to have a Eucharistic Procession and take our Lord with us.

The pro-life groups that sponsor the weekly event have a radio system so that those who remain in the church and those who process can pray the rosary together! 15 decades of the rosary are prayed, with the procession returning to the Church during the last few mysteries. Then the priest (or deacon if the priest was unable to stay) will offer Benediction. Here are some pictures from our weekly gatherings,
