Hello, Friends! It has been announced that Holy Name Church will be closing. This means that the Holy Name Chapel Foundation will soon have an opportunity to make an offer to the Archdiocese to purchase the property. This also means that Mass cannot be held in the church at this time.

However, we will continue to meet Every Saturday at 9am on the steps of the church for a Rosary Procession. Please Join us!

Important Update from the AOC

1/18/2026

Dear Friends, it was announced a few weeks ago that Holy Name Parish will be amalgamated into Anunciation Parish, and the church will soon be relegated to "profane but not sordid use" (e.g. no longer sacred, but not for evil uses)

You can find the full text of the Archbishop's decrees here.

What does this mean for the prolife movement?

1.) Mass is no longer being celebrated here as of Jan 17th.

HOWEVER- we will continue to meet every Saturday on the steps of the church at 9am for a rosary procession to planned parenthood until the Holy Name Chapel Foundation can purchase the building. We hope that this can happen very soon, and if all goes as hoped for, the Saturday Pro-life Mass will be restored soon.

2.) The Holy Name Chapel Foundation will need to make an offer to the Archdiocese fairly soon. It is our hope that after the purchase, the building can then be restored to Sacred use, the Saturday masses will be able to resume, and eventually, Holy Name will become a shrine for the victims of abortion.

This is a pivotal time for the Holy Name Chapel Foundation and the future of the Saturday pro-life Masses. We ask everyone to please help us spread the word and to be as generous as possible in donating to the Foundation. If you know someone who may be able to contribute substantially, please ask them or let us know so that we can ask.

Please pray for us, for the parishioners of Uptown Catholic, and for the Archdiocese at large.
