Active fundraising begins

Dear friends,

We recently attended a meeting with the Uptown Catholic parish family, which Holy Name church belongs to. During that meeting it became evident that it is highly likely that the property of Holy Name Church will be offered for sale very soon.

The Archdiocese and the Uptown Catholic pastoral council are open to us purchasing the building when it goes up for sale, however, they know that it will only be accepted if we offer a competitive bid. They had previously received bids from a few different entities, one of which was offering 2.5 million dollars.

With this in mind, we are aiming to raise at least 2 million, and are now actively fundraising. We know that this number sounds immense, but we also know that with God, all things are possible! We know that since the beginning of time, God has been working His miracles. He continues to do so to this day; He just needs faith and trust from His people! We believe that if we put all our trust in Him, He will work everything out. After all, as St Mother Theresa of Calcutta used to say, “God has lots of money.”

We are deeply grieved for the members of the Uptown Catholic family during this difficult time, especially the parishioners who regularly attend Holy Name. Some of them shared at the meeting that they would at least find some consolation in knowing that the church building itself would continue as a chapel or similar institution rather than be used for a secular purpose.

The Planned Parenthood on Auburn Avenue is becoming an “abortion destination” as other facilities close and funnel their efforts to this center. With many of the surrounding states having banned or restricted abortions, we see cars from all around the country coming here, from North Carolina to Texas.

Friends, we all know how important it is that the Sacramental presence of Jesus Christ remain with us on Auburn Avenue. We know that we need a Catholic, pro-life hub where we can gather and offer our worship to God, and our prayers for the mothers and children in danger just down the street. We know that there is nothing more powerful than the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass, which takes place here at Holy Name not only each Sunday, but also every Saturday for the pro-life cause.

We are asking everyone to prayerfully consider donating to our cause. We are a registered 501(C)3 Non-Profit organization, which makes your contribution will tax deductible. Our goal is that after purchasing the building, it would someday become a shrine for the victims of abortion, honoring the countless children lost and inestimable number of people wounded in body, heart, mind and soul from the trauma of abortion.
